Introducing Matha with a Crossfire that has problems.

  • My name is Martha, I'm the pride owner of a 2004 Crossfire, since 2009.

My residents is on MILLSAP, TX, USA.

I really enjoy driving the car.

A month ago i was on my way to work, 1 mile on my way the car just died. I tried to start it again and 1, 2, 3 died. We pulled the car back to the house. On the way the fan comes on very loud. On the house the car once again 1, 2, 3 died.

After i bought a new battery the car doesn't start, only the fan comes on. Looking on a YouTube video we decided to change the camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor was recommended. Nothing happened.

We checked the RCM. In was water in the bottom of the box. We contacted Europe parts, ordered a new one, recieved the round one, sent it back. DJ on Arizona offered to fix it. After checking it for working on a Crossfire he sent it back to me. We installed it back and nothing happened. We decided to buy a new SKREEM module from Needs Wings. We've installed the device and now starting the engine it runs for only 1 minutes or less and dies. Second time nothing happens.

Please suggest what can be my next step. 8o

  • Hello Martha,

so to summarize; you have changes the camshatft sensor, the crankshaft sensor, the RCM module and the SKREEM module.

The engine fan turns on immediately when you start the engine. The engine dies after around 1 minute and dies.

The very first step should have been to connect the car to a DRB3 diagnostic system and check for DTCs. Most of the sensors and systems in this car are monitored.

Did you check the wiring harness and plugs of the camshaft and the crankshaft sensor?

Was the water in RCM module or in the housing where all the electronic control modules are located?

If you turn on the ignition while the engine is cold and the engine fan immediately turns on, in general this this is a RCM module problem or a ground problem. The engine fan immediately turns on when the engine fan module gets current, but the RCM module doesn't get current. Some more infos on the RCM module: RCM Modul - Fehlerbeschreibung und Reparaturanleitung

Does the engine fan still turn on when you turn on ignition?

Did you check the wiring harness and plug of the RCM module? Any bad connectors, broken cables or corrosion?

I don't see why the SKEEM module shounld be the problem in this case.

Did the car have a front accident in the past?

PS: lease don't use an auto text correction function. Put your 2 posts together. Gave me a real hard time to solve your text riddle. Thanks.

  • :winke: The water was inside this box:

Der Inhalt kann nicht angezeigt werden, da Sie keine Berechtigung haben, diesen Inhalt zu sehen.

After got fixed and putting back the fan is not coming on any more.

All wires are in good shape.

In 2010 an eighteen wheeler truck took the front left side of the car.

  • Hello Martha,

this is the RCM module. Don't know how water can get in there, because this is a sealed box which itself is located inside a box with the ECU and the BCU. If there was water in there, i would suspect that the wiring harness and plugs might have a corrosion problem in this area.

I don't know how big an eighteen wheeler truck is and how it hit the Crossfire, but this sounds like a harder impact. This always means that the wiring harness in this area might have got damaged. This can lead to unusual failiures over time.

My recommendation is still to put the car on a DRB3 diagnostic system and check it for DTCs that might lead to the problem. I also suspect a problem caused by corrosion and wiring harness or cable connection / plug problems.

    Regards, Markus :winke:
